I had an awesome morning gar fishing in big creek on lake somerville. The lake is 19 feet high and the creek is flooded which gar love. I caught the first one on a rebel minnow and then switched to the rapala shadow rap and caught 3 more on that. I was using a lews spinning reel with 10lb Powerpro braid. When gar are swimming on top you can usually flip a lure at them and they will destroy it. This is one of my favorite ways to fish.
