A quite dramatic colour change made this chemistry experiment really mesmerizing for Alex. After blending a few red cabbage leaves I poured purple cabbage juice into glasses. I added a little too many leaves, so I had to add more water to glasses for clearer colours. Then Alex started adding lemon juice, vinegar, baking soda and washing powder to separate glasses, leaving middle glass untouched. The purple cabbage juice turns red when it mixes with acids and turns blue/green when it mixes with base. What a fun way to test common household products for pH!
