This a collection of videos from the past couple days trying to catch gar on artificials. This is at a local retention pond with creeks running into it. Sometimes they will get in a foot of water in the thickest stuff possible. All of these gar were seen and casted to with two different baits. One is a 2" BPS jerk bait. The other is a zoom fluke on a size 12 treble hook. Gar of very hard to hook especially on lures so I suggest to downsize the presentation and set the hook down towards the water because the bottom of the gars mouth is soft and can be hooked. I landed about 1 out of 3 that ate my lure.
