Huey is asked by his mother to find a present for his grandmother, so he goes to the beach. Kenny is also there searching for food. Huey playfully moves the mouth of a shell found on the beach and teases Kenny by pretending the shell can talk. Kenny, misunderstanding that the shell is speaking, is surprised. Huey hears about the existence of lava fruit from Kenny and decides he wants it as a gift for his grandmother, sending Kenny to retrieve it. Although Kenny is afraid to go to the volcano not knowing when it might erupt, Huey reassures him that it won't erupt for a while. Relieved, Kenny heads towards the volcano for the sake of the shell, but midway, the volcano erupts, trapping him with lava blocking his way. Then, Reggie and others arrive. Discovering that the shell was Huey all along, Kenny is shocked. Nemi tries to fly and carry Kenny, but unable to bear the weight of Kenny holding many lava fruits, Nemi lands on a small rocky ledge. There, Reggie and Grace bring a tree trunk to create a bridge, but Kenny, scared of the hot lava, cannot cross. Huey bravely crosses the tree trunk to rescue Kenny, carrying him back safely. Huey and Kenny are disappointed to learn from Grace that the lava fruit is inedible. Huey apologizes for lying to Kenny, and they all leave the volcano behind.
