We're off to visit a real art Studio! We visit our friend, Marty, who is a sculptor and creates wonderful, whimsical bronze dog sculptures found in art galleries worldwide! Marty shows us his whimsical dog creations and talks about his creative process! This video is encouraging to mateys of all ages!
In this documentary style video, we hear about at Marty's inspiration for his work, the final pieces, and all the magic in between!
We look at some technical sculpting tools and explore the phases of sculpting from idea, to shaping the clay, the materials and tools, the structural framework armatures underneath the clay, refining the design, finishing the design and sending it off to a foundry to be cast and poured in bronze!
We also get to learn about the patina (the finish and variety of coloring) on the bronzes.
If you are interested in learning about Marty Goldstein and his process, or an artist yourself, we hope you are encouraged as we hear from the kind artist behind the whimsical doggies seen at art galleries all around the world! One of our favorite moments was when Marty talks about challenges when creating. This is so valuable when it comes to creativity for kids! Marty encourages us, "Don't be afraid of something that isn't going right...start all over again and you're going to get it eventually." Now that's perseverance!"
