Heidi is about to take the baby goat back to the park when Miss Rottenmeier comes back earlier than expected and finds the goat in the house. It’s too much for the governess and she decides to resign and leave the house. Clara is distraught and Heidi knows that there is only one way to keep Miss Rottenmeier: for her to leave. So she runs away, hoping to get back to the mountains. But she can’t take the train on her own so she ends up at the cathedral, with Rudy.
At the Sesemann’s house, everyone is stunned to discover that Heidi has gone. They search her in the city and eventually find her with Rudy. There, Miss Rottenmeier understands how much Clara cares for her, and that she’s like a second mother for her. She decides to stay and Heidi promises not to cause trouble ever again.
