Miss Rottenmeier is allergic to cats and when she discovers the two kittens brought by Heidi, she gets really angry. She punishes Heidi and forces her to spend the afternoon in the cellar while she sends Sebastian to drown the kittens in the canal. To save the kittens, Clara helps Heidi getting out of the cellar and Heidi runs after Sebastian for him not to drown the kittens. They give the kittens to Rudy, a barrel organ player whom Heidi has met when she went to the bell tower. Heidi understands she won’t go back to the mountains until Clara gets better and walks, so she promises she’ll help getting her to walk again.
