As Heidi takes her last test to become Goat General, Dete arrives in Dörfli to take Heidi to Frankfurt to work in the family where she works too.
Grandfather refuses to let her go and he has a fight with Dete. Dete reminds him of what happened to Tobias, Grandfather’s son and Heidi’s father. This is too much for Grandfather, who agrees to let Dete do whatever she wants. When Heidi comes down from the meadow, happy to now be a Goat General, her happiness is short lived when she finds Dete and learns that she has to go to Frankfurt. She refuses at first, but when Grandfather doesn’t fight to keep her and Dete tells her it’s only for a few days, Heidi agrees to follow her.
