Here is a simple experiment for children at the kitchen that Alex loved. When a ping pong ball is placed straight under running water tap, it does not move away from the water stream. In fact, the ball sticks to it and follows it even when we move the tap. Here is what I told Alex and I hope it helps. The stream of water pulls air away around it. Then ping pong ball is filling this gap as it is pushed into it by air from the other side
