It’s fall and the children have collected a toy truck’s worth of chestnuts. They proudly bring them to Mom who is sitting in the backyard, busy with her sewing. Mom takes the precious gifts and, using beautiful red thread and some googly eyes, turns the chestnuts into a toy snake. The kids are thrilled and play with the snake all day. At bedtime, however, tensions rise between Ela and Ron. Both siblings want to sleep with the snake. But, after a random choosing game, Ela wins the privilege. Ron is jealous and soon becomes angry, so Mom helps him relieve his feelings by imagining a safe and quiet space on a beach. Very soon, all the siblings fall into blissful sleep.
