Heidi and Grandmamma try to cheer her up and even builds a swing in the garden (off the biggest tree) so they can play together. But when Heidi tries to push Clara on the swing, Clara rebuffs her and the two girls argue. Heidi feels betrayed to see that Clara has given up on walking, and, distraught, she locks herself in her room. Clara suddenly realises how selfish she has been; Heidi has left everything she loved to come here to help her, Clara can’t be jealous when she runs in the grass. Clara starts training again in secret, then she goes to Heidi’s room and shows her how she can now stand on her own. Heidi is delighted to see her friend back in her good spirits and ready to walk!
